8/1 Books and Blooms

Create a festive flower bouquet inspired by your favorite library book. Make an artful arrangement featuring both at the Weston Public Library. All supplies are provided and you can take your arrangement home!

8/2 Hopyard Hoedown

Whether you are a fan of Two Roads beverages or simply into line dancing, this is the place to be today. Kids crafts, mechanical bull rides, a pie eating contest and live music all afternoon. Giddy up, this Western adventure is fun!

8/3 Enchanted Eve

The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra brings further enchantment to the Blau House & Gardens. A garden tour begins at 4:30; the Quantum Leap String Quartet begins at 6:00pm. Feel free to bring a picnic supper.

8/4 Meandering CT

Explore on summer Mondays! Seaside Sanitarium in Waterbury was designed to offer heliotropic treatment. While its past is storied and future uncertain, it's a beautiful setting. Spend time at nearby Harkness State Park too.

8/5 Stuffie Sleepover

Bring a stuffed friend to the Easton Library for a secret, toys-only sleepover! They should arrive on Tuesday, August 5 before 1:00 pm. When you retrieve your friend on Wednesday (before 6:00 pm), you'll be amazed to read of the fun and adventures they had!

8/6 Kid's Concert

In a Levitt Pavilion Children’s Series event, Danny Weinkauf (composer & bassist for They Might Be Giants) and his Red Pants Band bring rollicking, family-friendly tunes to Westport. Pre-show activities include a touch-a-truck experience & an ice cream truck.

8/7 Despicable Me 4

Grab your beach blanket and snacks. Tonight, Fairfield Parks and Recreation continues its Sand Jam Movie series with the Minions and Gru. Come early for the dance party that starts at 6:30

8/8 Ana Gasteyer

Best known for her unforgettable characters and spot-on impressions on SNL, Ana Gasteyer brings her signature wit and powerhouse vocals to the Westport Playhouse stage.

8/9 Seinfeld Live

From his sitcom success to his live stage domination, Jerry Seinfeld is the consummate performer. Through simple, every day experiences he invites you to laugh along with him. Enjoy, tonight at Hartford Amphitheater.

8/10 Crypt Tours

Did you know 137 gravestones sit below the Center Church-on-the-Green in New Haven? Dated 1687 - 1812, those buried there include Benedict Arnold's wife and Rev. James Pierpont, a founder of Yale. Take a fascinating tour with informative guides at 10am.

8/11 Bibliophile Bliss

Looking to discover a new genre or a fun summer read? Take this Monday to meander to the Book Barn, in charming Niantic, CT. After perusing the half a million books, relax in the gardens or feed the goats. You'll need it!

8/12 Art-Architecture

With a striking interplay of light, color, and form, Barbara Kasten’s work infiltrates the grounds of The Glass House and responds to the site’s environment and landscape. See this exhibition now through December 15th.

8/13 Summer Sounds

One Hot Night is the Northeast's premier Neil Diamond tribute band. With a show based on his Hot August Night live album, Tommy Lynn delivers spot on vocals for an unforgettable experience at Calf Pasture Beach.

8/14 Valley Forge

Images of this forgotten village are on display at Weston History & Culture Center. Explore the once thriving community and the construction of the Samuel Senior Dam to create the Saugatuck Reservoir.

8/15 Feliciano & More

It's not 12/24, but José is singing in support of his long-time parish anyway. As Assumption Church reaches its 150th anniversary, funds are needed to preserve & enhance its historic building. Another historic place, Westport Country Playhouse, is the venue!

8/16 Sayonara Summer

It's Ambler Farm's last Red Barn Live event of the year! Bear's Choice, Fairfield County's favorite Grateful Dead cover band, will provide the beats. Pack your picnic and enjoy sweet treats from College Creamery to end the night.

8/17 Art Tour

Enjoy an inspiring Sunday afternoon with a visit to the Bruce Museum. Explore exhibits like Isamu Noguchi's Metal the Mirror sculptures —“Here is where finally opposites come together, I see a surprising purity. Stone is the depth, metal the mirror. They do not conflict…"

8/18 Submarines

Explore on summer Mondays!

As the official repository of submarine history, the Submarine Force Museum in Groton CT is full of interesting artifacts. You can even step inside Nautilus, the first nuclear powered submarine. It traveled over a half a million miles in 25 years of service.

8/19 Twin Peaks Fans

Ridgefield Playhouse hosts a conversation with the stars of this legendary series. Join them (Ray Wise, Harry Goaz, Kimmy Robertson & Dana Ashbrook) for a night of fun stories and behind the scene memories.

8/20 Retro Fun

This afternoon, the Pequot Library invites sidewalk artists to decorate the long paths leading to its entrance. Bring your youngster (ages 5 +) to Southport for some old fashioned fun!

8/21 Just a Facade?

As realtors, we love a great house tour. This is a fun one! The 18 foot wide home (that appears 86 feet wide) has lush European decor and once entertained luminaries including Salvador Dali. Take a tour of Austin's home, then visit the Wadsworth Atheneum.

8/22 No Place Like Oz

Whether you're a Glinda, an Elphaba, or maybe a fellow munchkin, get ready for a thrilling sing-along event at The Westport Library.  Kids, ages 7+ will enjoy crafts, themed snacks, and a screening of the movie, Wicked.

8/23 Lachat Meadow

Music in the Meadow Series continues tonight at Lachat Town Farm. Headlining, the Hayley Jane Band pulls from a variety of styles. Prepare for a high energy evening under the stars. Food trucks and bar cart will be onsite.

8/24 Paddle Along

Earthplace Canoe Paddles are a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon on the water. You'll travel along the Saugatuck River in search of osprey, egrets, turtles, and more. Reserve your canoe for up to four people.

8/25 Ride the Trail

Take the kids on a final summer adventure along the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. Begin in New Haven to explore a long tunnel featuring a timeline of the trail's creation. Or, start in Cheshire and visit the Lock 12 Museum & Park.

8/26 Ahhh....

Grab a coffee from Old Mill Grocery and savor the tranquility at one of our beaches. With school starting today in Westport and Fairfield, miles of Long Island Sound frontage up for grabs!

8/27 Artful Calm

Tom Kretsch' exhibit, A Symphony of Color, showcases how he transforms the ordinary into extraordinary art. Enjoy the display, opening reception and an artist discussion tonight at the Westport Library.

8/28 The Freshest

It is not news that you can find the best produce at Westport's Farmers Markets. But did you know that the featured chefs share their recipes on the Market's website? Follow the link in the photo above, then head to the market for fresh ingredients.

8/29 Open House

Discover the CT Humane Society’s new Wilton Pet Resource Center during its open house on Friday or Saturday, August 29–30, from 12–2 pm. This vital hub includes a low-cost pet clinic, pet food pantry and humane education programs.

8/30 Field of Dreams

Tonight, Weston's Commission for the Arts and Weston’s softball and baseball leagues present an outdoor screening of this baseball classic. Come early to play baseball and softball games with an announcer and enjoy traditional baseball snacks.

8/31 Holiday Weekend

Save the BBQs for Monday and head to Lake Compounce today for some "rides, slides and surprises." As America's first amusement park, it's the official park of family fun! Enjoy the refreshing waterpark too, after all, it's still August...
