Summer is not over yet

At half-way point in summer 2026, we’d like to share some of our favorite recent discoveries in the towns we call home. Even after years of living and working along the Connecticut coast, there is always something new—and genuinely exciting—to uncover.

The absolute best way to arrive for dinner at The Bridge at Saugatuck—by boat! Gliding up to the dock for a sunset dinner or an early evening cocktail on the riverside terrace instantly elevates the occasion. Trading car keys for the helm shifts the entire rhythm of the night.  A quick pro-tip: Definitely check the tide charts before you head out. High tide is your best friend for a smooth arrival and departure!

If you don’t have a boat, the Carefree Boat Club offers an effortless alternative. Members enjoy all the pleasures of boating without the maintenance or logistics of ownership.  Simply reserve a boat, head out on the water, and spend a few hours exploring the Connecticut coastline. Seeing Connecticut from the water offers a fresh perspective—one that often becomes an unexpected favorite way to unwind.

For dining, few experiences feel as refined and immersive as omakase at Sushi Jin in Westport. Meaning “I leave it up to you,” omakase invites guests to trust the chef’s expertise as each course is thoughtfully curated and presented. The progression—from delicate, lighter flavors to richer, more complex dishes—is intentional and artful. Here, the chef and his craft take center stage.

For a more casual, relaxed evening, try dining al fresco at Massi Co. Settle in with cocktails and small plates and enjoy the easy rhythm of the street scene. Another find is Ryebird in Fairfield. It’s got a welcoming, neighborhood feel—perfect for an unhurried evening at the bar with a well crafted margarita.

To work off the calories, we are fans of The Gold Step Summer pop-up at Pequot Library. It’s a fun and contemporary take on a classic step class and runs Mondays at 9:30 through August. It’s an energizing way to start the week.
