1/1 Polar Bear Plunge!

Accept the challenge in support of Abilis - the nonprofit dedicated to supporting those with special needs. Freezing for a resaon, the crowd will jump in the Sound around 11 am at Westport's Compo Beach.

1/2 Clocks & Watches

Mantels & trees in the museum's galleries were decorated for the 7th annual, seasonal display. The pictured mantel, designed by Bristol Garden Club features a pair of Sebring 500 model stop watches made by E. Ingraham Company.

1/3 2025 Calendar

Help foster the arts and enjoy some beautiful scenes year-round with the Easton Arts Council Calendar (photo above by Debbie Firisin). Pick one up this morning at Greisers Coffee & Market - and then see if you can find "Stumped" in Easton.

1/4 First Saturday

Did you know the Westport Museum for History & Culture offers free admission on the first Saturday of each month? Drop in and explore all the museum has to offer!

1/5 3 Dimensional Art

Explore the wonderful exhibits at the Bruce Museum (like Tara Donovan: Aggregations or Andrew Wyeth: Every Leaf and Twig) and then guide your child in making a 3D sculpture themselves. This drop in program is free with admission from 1-3pm.

1/6 Night of Laughs

It is the quintessential “night at the club,” featuring a host (Isabel Hagen) and a lineup of other comedians who share the stage to create an incredible, one-of-a-kind night of comedy. Tonight at Stamford's NY Comedy Club.

1/7 Traveling Abroad?

This program is ideal if you are planning an international trip. The Aspetuck Health District presents an info session on sickness prevention, travel vaccinations, food and beverage precautions, medical evacuation insurance and more. Westport Library 7pm

1/8 The Wigglers

Music and movement for those little ones that can't sit still. They will jump, hop, skip and dance along with others in the 0-5 age group. 10:30am at the Pequot Library in Southport.

1/9 Semi-finals

Which teams will be playing in the Orange and Cotton Bowls? While we have our favorites, you'll need to tune in tonight and tomorrow to see who made it this far and who will play for the National Championship on January 20th.

1/10 Moana 2

The new Moana adventure arrives at the SHU Community Theatre. 4 and 7pm showings Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus matinees on the weekend at 1pm. Join Moana as she races across Oceania to help her ancestors.

1/11 Community Bonfire

Decorations are down and you sent the tree to Emmanuel Church for the community bonfire. The Weston Warm Up Fund benefits from your $30 suggested donation and you get to enjoy the fire!

1/12 Bowl the Ducks

Maybe it's been awhile or maybe you've never been — January is a great month for Duckpin bowling! Balls weigh under 4 pounds but it's trickier than it looks. Give it a try this weekend at Woodlawn in West Haven.

1/13 Farm Fresh

Keep your healthy eating resolution going strong with a visit to Westport's Winter Farmers' Market. Thursdays through March 6th, 10am - 2pm at Gilbertie's Herb Gardens.

1/14 Animal Lovers

Earthplace is seeking teen volunteers for its winter club. Working side-by-side with animal care technicians, they will learn animal care skills and explore Earthplace's private preserves. 6 weeks, Tuesdays or Thursdays.

1/15 Bridgeport in 1915

World War I turned Bridgeport into a munition making arsenal. Hear how the striking women won an eight hour day for the workforce from historian Carolyn Ivanoff. Fairfield Museum and History Center, noon to 1pm.

1/16 Basketball

It's transition month, football to basketball! Spend the evening nearby watching the Fairfield U Stags take on Niagra. Tip off is at 7pm, so you'll have plenty of time to try out a restaurant in Fairfield, before or after - check out some favorites here.

1/17 Reggae Away

Imagine a warm Jamaican vacation while enjoying the sounds of Anthem, a reggae bad with an original sound. Their live show ranks among the best in the business. Catch it free at The Klein Memorial Auditorium, thanks to support from the Klein and the Bridgeport Library.

1/18 CT Biergarten

Dockside Brewery in Milford turns into a winter biergarten for the season. Enjoy comfortable, private outdoor dining and a special apres ski event today, starting at 1pm.

1/19 Cat Kid Club

Get set for a hilarious adventure as Cat Kid and Molly Pollywog teach 21 rambunctious baby frogs how to make their own comics. Based on Dav Pilkey's childrens book series. At the Ridgefield Playhouse.

1/20 Day On Not Off

Honoring Martin Luther King Jr, make this a day of service at Lachat Town Farm. Together, we will assemble bags of food for those in need. Register in advance for the number of bags you'd like to fill.

1/21 Nature Walk

What is tree bark? How is it formed? How does it benefit the tree? Why is it important in an ecosystem? These are some of the items that will be discussed with botanist Jim Cortina. After the program, we'll walk the santuary to examine the species at the CT Audubon Society in Fairfield.

1/22 Express Yourself

The Westport Library is delighted to present two, free weekly classes with award-winning author and teacher Tessa Smith McGovern. A write-in plus a 30-minute Q&A where you can ask Tessa anything about writing, publishing, or marketing your stories (including where and how to submit for publication).

1/23 Week Night Meals

Join Chef, and mother of four, Laura Weinman for some family-friendly favorites this January!

These are simple yet tasty dinner ideas for busy families crafted with flavor and health in mind. Get cooking at Wakeman Town Farm, 6:30 - 9:00pm

1/24 CT ICE

It's Sacred Heart's turn to host Connecticut Ice, where UConn, SHU, Yale and Quinnipiac men's hockey teams face off in two days of games. Get your tickets for this hyper-local event!

1/25 Ancient Egypt

Enjoy this new production of Verdi's Aida by Michael Mayer at Fairfield University's Quick Center. The Ethiopian princess is caught between love and country in this dazzling opera. 12:30 at Fairfield University's Quick Center.

1/26 Bad Boys

Broadway’s Bad Boys gives audiences a chance to spend some time with the tunes from The Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast, and a little Harold Hill in between! Catch today's final performance at Westport Country Playhouse.


1/27 Social Media

An eye-opening look into the impact of social media on the developing brain and practical strategies for establishing healthy guidelines for its use. Tonight at the Fairfield Woods Library.

1/28 Practice, Practice

Habla español? This group is for you! Westport Library offers conversational groups in several languages throughout the week. They are a perfect opportunity to practice your Spanish, Italian, French, etc.

1/29 No Snow?!

Find the snowballs inside & get creative while exploring a fascinating world of wintry science discoveries at Stepping Stones Children's Museum. Snowball sling shots, ice bowling & ice block building are just some of the adventures that await.

1/30 CT Chocolate Trail

Following Connecticut's chocolate trail is not breaking your resolutions, it's just doing some Valentine's Day research. So happy to see our local favorites (Isabelle et Vincent, Le Rouge, BE Chocolat & Bridgewater) made the list!

1/31 Made it Through January?

Okay, so the month's not quite over, but a celebration may be in order. Click the photo for some fabulous fireside dining options, including the Redding Road House. Closer to home, we enjoy Little Barn in Westport and Gray Goose in Southport.
