Beyond Pumpkins

October is a month full of pumpkin spice and Halloween themed activities. But there are plenty of other things happening in Fairfield County too! Curated for you, we hope the following events & ideas will enlighten, entertain, inspire and help you & yours love where you live just a little bit more.

10/1 Restaurant Weeks

Nearly 20 Westport eateries are participating in Restaurant Week, sponsored by Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy Prix fixe specials for lunch or dinner at some yummy spots, now through October 13th.

10/2 Pizza Faces

Kid's love to play with their food! Let them decorate a pizza with toppings like pepperoni and olives. Then while the pizzas cook, the kids will make a craft and play a game. Easy & fun dinner! 4 - 5:30pm

10/3 Happy Crafting

Greenfield Hill Commons in Fairfield is hosting its 2nd annual Scarecrow Contest, supporting the Norma Pfriem Breast Cancer Center. A $25 registration fee covers a burlap sack and bamboo poles - let your imaginations do the rest!

10/4 After Dark

Come for a nighttime scare at Fairfield's Haunted Fair. Take a hayride along haunted trails or stroll through the funhouse or insane asylum, if you dare. Concessions, beer garden, firepits and music too. Fridays & Saturdays in October.

10/5 Fall Festivities

Earthplace is the place to be this weekend. Enjoy an evening under the stars with farm-to-table delights, signature cocktails and live music during this annual fundraiser. The fun continues with a family festival on Sunday (10am - 3pm)

10/6 Carnival Fun

The 14th Annual Family Fun Carnival takes place at St. Francis of Assisi in Weston, on October 5-6, from 12 noon to 6 pm each day. The Carnival includes a hayride, inflatables, games, live music, face painting, craft vendors and food trucks.

10/7 Pumpkins & More!

FALL FEST is an annual tradition at Silverman’s. Farm in Easton. Foliage sets the backdrop for colorful displays of New England squashes, gourds and Indian corn. Take the 20 minute scenic trator ride with 50 mile views. Don't forget your camera!

10/8 Garden Wrap Up

Master gardener + composter, Alice Ely, will share tips on how to put your gardens to bed for the winter. Learn how to recycle and compost the last greens, and the best way to ensure healthy and beautiful gardens will emerge in the spring. At Lachat Town Farm.

10/9 Dino-Maze

Bishop's Orchards and Yale Peabody Museum teamed up to create a dinosaur-themed corn maze this year! Search for prehistoric clues as you work your way through this 3.25 acres. Pick pumpkins & apples too! Daily, through Nov 3rd.

10/10 Ink & Time Exhibit

How did artists like Dürer make the woodcuts used in print making? Master Printer Chris Shore will explore the techniques and tools used by 15th and 16th century European artists in two presentations today (4 & 6:30pm) at the Fairfield University Art Museum.

10/11 Turtle Odyssey

Visit the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk and watch baby Bunji navigate the dangers of life at sea like sharks, octopus, whales and more. Her amazing journey takes you thousands of miles through the depths of the oceans in Turtle Odyssey 4D.

10/12 Pumpkin Palooza

Stews' Garden shop is bursting with local pumpkins!

Those who buy a pumpkin at Stews in Nowalk on October 12, 13, or 14 between 11:00AM and 5:00PM are invited to a complimentary pumpkin painting event outdoors under the tent.

10/13 Reservoir Run

Lace up those sneakers or come out and cheer on the runners! The Weston Kiwanis Club hosts the 30th year of the Reservoir Run Half Marathon, 5K, and Kids Fun Run; nature provides the stunning back drop!

10/14 Recess Art Camp

Looking for a creative way for your child to spend Columbus & Indigenous People’s Day? Drop off your Nursery – 1st grader for two hours of artsy fun (9:30 to 11:30am). K-5th graders can sign up for a full day at MoCA CT.

10/15 Princess Storytime

Meet your favorite princesses in person! Join Princess Cinderella at the Weston Library (4pm) for stories, songs, photos, and more!

10/16 Women's Soccer

Watch Sacred Heart Women's Soccer take on cross town rivals, Fairfield U. It's also Breast Cancer Awareness Night, so a great night to come out & show your support.

10/17 Tom Hanks Films

Join an evening discussion at the Wilton Library on the 'Career and Films of Tom Hanks', the highly acclaimed and versatile actor who has made a significant impact on the film industry. From Josh in 'Big' to Captain in 'Sully', he has portrayed characters & directed films across all genres.

10/18 Salsa!

Sacred Heart University presents “Revolucion Salsa Concert & Comedy Night.” It's a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience, blending live salsa music, laughs - courtesy of comedian Mark Viera, and a sneak peek of In the Heights, performed by the Downtown Cabaret Theater.

10/19 Halloween Bash

Calling all little goblins and ghouls! Stepping Stones is hosting a frighteningly festive event today 3-7 pm. From shadow puppets to the dark forest, the museum will be transformed. Games, music and tasty treats will be spooky-themed. Costumes encouraged!

10/20 Fish Church

Listen to the majestic etudes of Philip Glass in a most inspiring setting. First Presbyterian Church (aka Fish Church) in Stamford evokes St. Chapelle of Paris with glass and light. Pianists Timo Andres, Aaron Diehl & Jenny Lin will perform the concert at 4pm

10/21 Autumn Harvest

Enjoy an evening with CT food writer, Liz Rueven at Lachat Town Farm in Weston to shift your perspective. As autumn’s chill yields peak-of-season ingredients, she'll offer fresh inspiration for seasonal soups and salads to delight the whole family.

10/22 On Politics

Fairfield University's Quick Center presents “Info, Insights, Inquiring Questions: The Presidential Election" with Alyssa Farah Griffin & Molly Jong-Fast. As respected voices in the political world, they will offer acute, razor-sharp insights into 2024 campaigns.

10/23 Season of Laughs

Westport Country Playhouse kicks off its 2024/2025 season mixing Hitchcock with laughter! Start with a classic suspense film and , a juicy spy novel. Add in a little Monty Python and you'll have "The 39 Steps". Shows Oct 22nd - Nov 9th.

10/24 Wine Tasting


A wonderful evening of great wine, food, and friends at the Inn at Longshore. Come discover your new favorite wine! Hors d'oeuvres are served along with dozens of fine wines. Funds raised go directly to charities supported by the Westport Sunrise Rotary.

10/25 Fright Night!

Creepy sights and mysterious sounds abound when the moon rises at Ambler Farm in Wilton. Enjoy a not-too frightful evening (3 -5 graders) of spooky stories, a haunted hayride, and some sweet treats. Also 10/26, 10/18-19.

10/26 85th Season!

10/27 Pink or Treat!

Start your Halloween holiday weekend with Westport Library's Pinkalicious Halloween Party. After a reading from Victoria Kann, kids can join a costume parade and trick or treat for Pinkalicious treats on Jesup Green.

10/28 Tiger Shark Tank

Cheer on Ridgefield-based entrepreneurs as they pitch their business to a group of judges at the 3rd annual Tiger Shark Tank. The panel includes corporate leaders, notable entrepreneurs, private equity investors, and Ridgefield ECDC members.

10/29 Costumes Parade

All children are invited to attend the annual Halloween Parade - Main Street to Veterans Green. Sponsored by the Westport Parks and Recreation Department, the Westport Downtown Association, and Westport P.A.L.

10/30 Trivia at Area 2

Stratford's Two Road's Brewing Company hosts trivia nights every Wednesday. Free to play, with prizes and a free beer for frequent attendees. Get your team together for what is always a fun night!

10/31 Trick or Treat

Enjoy your block, neighborhood or community-favorite trick or treat spot. Be safe and enjoy — Happy Halloween!
