9/1 Twain Book Fair Over 60,000 books for sale in 75 categories at one of the oldest, largest and most organized book fairs in New England. Founded by Mark Twain himself, the Mark Twain Library holds its 63rd annual book sale over Labor Day weekend. 9/2 US Open The final grand slam of the 2024 tennis season, the US Open, is underway. With Djokovic and Alcaraz out, who will be the men's champ? No tickets? Follow the action at a local sports bar like Fairfield's Local Kitchen & Bar.

9/3 Apple Picking! It's apple season! Spend a day outdoors picking the very best ones at Lyman's Orchards. Tart or sweet, for pies or snacking, green or red — which is your favorite? A stop at the Lyman Orchards Creamery just might be the reward for all your hard work. 9/4 Mental Exercise Drop by the Westport Library for a chess game on Wednesday evenings through December 4th. There will be both open play and instruction for adults and high school students who know how to play the game.

9/5 Fran Leibowitz The noted author, journalist and social observer will appear for an onstage interview at Westport Country Playhouse. She will take audience questions and will be available for book signing in the lobby following the program. 9/6 Oyster Festival The 46th Annual Norwalk Oyster Festival features three days of fun, food, and dazzling entertainment on multiple stages at seaside Veteran's Park. New this year, performances by Extreme Pogo & Ready Go Dogs!

9/7 Saugatuck Slice The Slice returns for the 12th year as over four dozen of Saugatuck’s restaurants and shops open their doors with samples. Explore the neighborhood and enjoy live entertainment along the way. Ticket sales benefit the Homes with Hope food pantry. 9/8 Music at the Barn Faster Things - The Allman Brothers Tribute Band closes out the Weston History & Culture Center's 2024 Music at the Barn summer concert series. Grab a picnic and a seat for an enjoyable evening at this KMS-sponsored event.

9/9 Tech + Nature A new digital kiosk provides trails and conservation information at the Lucius Pond Ordway – Devil’s Den Preserve. From digital maps to videos, this valuable asset was made possible by The Nature Conservancy’s CT stewardship team. Happy hiking! 9/10 Amy Irving's BDay Brightening the stage at Levitt Pavilion tonight, on her birthday, will be Amy Irving. Showcasing her theatrical and vocal talents, she will perform songs from her first album and new compositions with Goolis, her band.

9/11 In Remembrance Connecticut's memorial to the lives lost on 9-11 can be found at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. Take the beautiful walk to the point, resting with your thoughts on the granite benches. Visit the pavilion, where bio-plaques installed during the 10th commemoration are held. 9/12 Tennis Royalty BOOKED for the evening is The Westport Library’s signature fundraising event. This year, sporting legend and equal rights trailblazer Billie Jean King is honored for her triumphs on and off the court.

9/13 Magic of Music Introduce your kids to the joy of classical music. Norwalk Symphony Orchestra's (Not) Just For Kids program is a lively, fun and interactive program designed to be educational as well as entertaining...and it's free! Several locations 9/13 and 9/14. 9/14 Stella Blue’s Band Lachat farm closes out its Music in the Meadow series with the Stella Blue’s Band; returning for the fifth consecutive year to perform their incomparable and faithful renditions of classic Grateful Dead music. Join us at this KMS-sponsored event!

9/15 Come Out and Run All are welcome to join what organizers — Wilton Library and Wilton Pride, said will be “part 5K and part community party". Runners, walkers, kids, strollers and leashed dogs are invited to participate and enjoy the festivities. 9/16 Paint 'N Sip Enjoy a relaxing evening of painting at the South Norwalk Library. Artist Jo-Ann Claybourne, who attended the School of Visual Arts in NY and now teaches at the Georgetown School of Arts, will lead the program.

9/17 Landscapes Twenty-five area artists will be showcased in Wilton Library's September art exhibition "Weir Inspired: The Premiere Show of the Weir Farm Artist Collective." Runs thru 9/25. 9/18 Knitting Circle Silence your phone, sip a warm drink, jump into a new knitting project or pick up a dusty one you wish you hadn't abandoned. All are welcome to join this informal gathering in the warmth of Lachat’s historic farmhouse.

9/19 On the Water Discover boating at Norwalk's Boat Show. Simulators and on-the-water test rides; mini lake for kids' paddle boats and hands-on crafts. Join the fun, Thursday - Sunday. 9/20 Storyfest Roxane Gay kicks off the multi-day, genre-spanning literary festival in converstion with Oliver Radclyffe. It's the 7th annual celebration of the story in all forms and media at the Westport Library.

9/21 Lobster & More The Westport Rotary Club's annual Lobster Fest returns to Compo Beach! 100% of the net proceeds benefit charitable organizations. Come out to enjoy lobsters & oysters, steak or burgers along with beverages, music, and family fun! 9/22 Best of Broadway Connecticut will welcome a group of stars that have graced the stages of Broadway in New York City and beyond to perform in a benefit for Sandy Hook Promise. The Best of Broadway — live tonight at the SHU Community Theatre.

9/23 Yoga on the Farm Come enjoy a traditional guided yoga experience of postures, breathing, and meditation at the beautiful Lachat Town Farm. Fall Saturdays at 8:15am, outdoors if weather is good! 9/24 In The Heights The Ridgefield Playhouse presents the story of the tight knit Dominican community that stars in Lin Manuel Miranda’s first Broadway musical, “In The Heights.” A moderated discussion follows the show.

9/25 Only in CT Short hikes in CT can take you to some remarkable bridges + beautiful sights. At Washington Depot's Hidden Valley Preserve, this 120' suspension bridge is inscribed with Henry David Thoreau quotes like, "The Universe is wider than our views of it." Explore nature + poetry! 9/26 Meet the Author Renowned Shakespeare scholar and Associate Professor of English at Trinity College, David S. Brown comes to Pequot Library. He describes his recent book, 'Shakespeare’s White Others' and his study of whiteness in the Bard's plays.

9/27 Kids Can Cook! Wakeman Farm offers an after-school special cooking class for kids. The goal is to ignite culinary creativity and make seasonal eating exciting! Get ready for a smoky, flavorful adventure that celebrates the tastes of fall. 9/28 Music Fest Connecticut's biggest music festival features two days of incredible music with 20 artists and a full array of local CT food/beverages. The fest takes place along the beautiful banks of the Long Island Sound at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.

9/29 Cocktail Party Journey back to the golden age of Weston at The Peter Thorp House (one of the town's oldest!) for cocktails and an evening featuring a guided tour of the home and its enchanting grounds. The home is featured in WHCC's exhibit, "Weston...What Lies Beneath" and on Instagram! 9/30 Take a Ride Get out and appreciate fall — on horseback! CT is home to more horses (~43,000 of them) than any other New England State. Litchfield may reign supreme, but there are some great options in Farifield County too. Try a trail ride at Easton's Gold Rush Farms.
